Nico Robin from One Piece: Strong World Movie

After making and wearing last year's Water Seven Robin cosplay, I just couldn't resist making a new Nico cosplay!

It seems like I lean towards her black outifts. After selling my Enies Lobby Robin Cosplay, I immediatly decided to cosplay Robin again; after all, she's one of my favorite characters. There was no competition when I saw her Strong World mafia outfit!

The actual dress was really easy to make; it helped that I owned a similar slyled dress and I just finegaled a pattern from that. The stocking, shoes and belt were also an easy find. However, her coat was not so easy. What made it tough was that I wanted it to defy gravity! I had all these ideas on how to make the coat amazing, but none of them were transport friendly. In the end, I decided to use plastic boning on the hem, which helped give it body.

The most pain staking part of the coat was the interfacing! First of all, I needed to find black interfacing (which was surprisingly hard to find in my area), secondly, I needed to find interfacing sheets that were as large as my coat pieces...and thirdly, it had to have an iron on side. I did manage to find something last minute, that fit all my criteria, but it fell off after I had gone through all the trouble of cutting out the 'feather' effects on the sleeves and bottom hem. So that's freying now, I'm afraid. It would have worked if the interfacing had been top notch. Unfortunately the interfacing was FAIL.

I'm pretty happy with the results. (Even though the interfacing was FAIL.)
